Safe At Home

Since 1989, the Safe At Home (SAH) program has been a resource for the children (infant to age 11) and families of Dane County Wisconsin who are experiencing significant life stress, conflict or child welfare issues such as abuse or neglect. SAH is an intensive family counseling program designed to work with families in their homes where the immediacy of problems can be addressed and resolved. SAH services are provided in a respectful and culturally responsive manner.

The SAH team works in collaboration with the family to:

SAH can meet with a family up to three times a week for up to six months. Services are designed and delivered in a flexable manner to meet the unique needs of each family. The program combines therapeutic intervention with educational interventions that teach parenting skills. SAH also provides 24-hour-a-day services. The SAH team includes a Master's level therapist and an experienced Family Support Worker. Treatment focuses on safety issues by helping parents provide a structured and nurturing family environment. Pre- and post-service outcome measures used since 1998 demonstrate that SAH is indeed meeting and exceeding its goals of helping families create safer, more nurturing homes.
